A little help for your kitchen.

Getting a recipe in, keeping your place, and carrying your collection with you.

Apple Intelligence

Apple Intelligence is required to use Flavor Folio.

Recipe reading, meal ideas, variations, and step help are built around Apple Intelligence. An Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone or iPad is a requirement for the app.

Devices without Apple Intelligence cannot use Flavor Folio. This is by design.

Why we build this way

Apple Intelligence is designed for privacy and security. Its on-device models are available to apps at no cost per request, helping us avoid expensive external AI services and keep Flavor Folio free. Apple’s cloud features have their own availability and usage limits.

Flavor Folio also requires iOS 27 or iPadOS 27 or later. Updating the operating system does not add Apple Intelligence support to incompatible hardware.

Before you start. Apple Intelligence must be enabled and its models ready. Availability also depends on your language and region. Allow model downloads to finish before opening Flavor Folio.

Do I need an account?

No Flavor Folio account is required. Optional iCloud sync uses your Apple Account.

Can I use Flavor Folio without Apple Intelligence?

No. Apple Intelligence-capable hardware is required to use Flavor Folio, by design. That includes the supported iPhone and iPad models listed above, running iOS 27 or iPadOS 27 or later. Apple Intelligence must also be enabled and ready in your language and region.

Check supported devices
What can a recipe link import?

Flavor Folio fetches the page at the link and reads the written recipe it can access. No social site gets special handling. It does not transcribe video or audio. For a page behind a login, share the loaded page from Safari or paste the recipe into Text import.

Can I check a recipe before saving?

Yes. Review the title, ingredients, and method. Guided checks cover specific missing details, and source evidence appears where available. Reading and generation can make mistakes, so look over the whole recipe.

How many page photos can I import?

Up to three, in order, as one recipe. Check the result against the original pages. A page photo does not automatically become the finished-dish image.

Will it work offline?

Saved recipes, planning, groceries, and cooking work from local data. Ideas, variations, and step help need an available local model when the cloud is unavailable. New links, cloud intelligence, sync transfers, and initial asset downloads need a connection.

Why did a timer not alert me?

Check notification permission in system Settings and your timer-alert choices in the app. Saved countdowns continue when you leave, but background notifications depend on permission and system delivery.

How does iCloud sync work?

It is optional and off by default. After changing it, completely restart the app. Eligible recipes, photos, plans, groceries, and category corrections can sync between your devices using the same Apple Account. Check the app’s sync status for transfer or storage errors. Timers, unfinished imports, preferences, and learned shopping order stay local.

Does turning off sync turn off cloud intelligence?

No. Recipe sync and Apple cloud intelligence are separate. Reading, ideas, variations, and step help prefer Private Cloud Compute when available, with device fallback.

Read about data and privacy
What is included in a backup?

Recipes, photos, captured source text, metadata, favorites, and recipe dates. Backups do not include meal plans, groceries, preferences, active cooking sessions, timers, or learned shopping order.

Will changing servings rewrite the method?

The serving control scales numeric ingredient amounts. Instructions, temperatures, and cooking times stay as written. Review the method for the amount you are cooking.

Keep a separate copy

Your recipes, in a file you can keep.

Open Settings, then Recipes & backup. Export your recipes to Files or a destination you choose. Import a Flavor Folio backup to add recipes on another device.

  • Keep the exported file somewhere you can find again.
  • Import validates recipes and skips duplicate titles without replacing them.
  • Read the import report for added and skipped recipes.
